March means carnival time in Buenos Aires, but there’s no need to worry about missing out on the party or having to brave snarled-up traffic on your way to our monthly trivia sojourn: the main festivities take place a week before the March BA Pub Quiz. The February pub quiz was well attended and closely fought, but Cat’s Whiskers once again held off the competition to lead from the starting gun to the finish line. In the early running for the 2019 Buenos Aires Pub Quiz Championship, then, Cat’s Whiskers have built a lead already with 84.5 points, but Quizzly Bears (78.5) and For Fact’s Sake (77.5) are both in hot pursuit. It’s been an awfully long time since I last posted up a themed round – indeed, this whole website was somewhat neglected during 2018 – and one of my new year’s resolutions is to be a bit better at putting things on here. Summer burns on in Buenos Aires, but there’s relief in sight in February, for the oasis which is the Buenos Aires Pub Quiz returns to La Cigale on Monday the eleventh. We’ll have fifty of the finest questions you’ll be asked all evening (unless you’ve got another quizzing event to attend afterwards, in which case I make no promises), and as much drink to wash them all down with as you fancy. The first BA Pub Quiz of 2019 was a well-attended affair in which I was told we’ve made it into the new edition of the Lonely Planet guide to Argentina! Cat’s Whiskers won by just half a point from Quizzly Bears, with third place taken by Los Cuises, previously known as last year’s annual champions Let’s Get Quizzical.
