The March Pub Quiz was a thriller, as Cat’s Whiskers led comfortably at the start but slipped up amazingly in the third round, and were beaten to the fizzy wine positions by For Fact’s Sake, We Always Finish Second (who were true to their name) and the Alpha-Whores, who got what I was surprised to be told was their first ever win. March means carnival time in Buenos Aires, but there’s no need to worry about missing out on the party or having to brave snarled-up traffic on your way to our monthly trivia sojourn: the main festivities take place a week before the March BA Pub Quiz. The February pub quiz was well attended and closely fought, but Cat’s Whiskers once again held off the competition to lead from the starting gun to the finish line. In the early running for the 2019 Buenos Aires Pub Quiz Championship, then, Cat’s Whiskers have built a lead already with 84.5 points, but Quizzly Bears (78.5) and For Fact’s Sake (77.5) are both in hot pursuit. Summer burns on in Buenos Aires, but there’s relief in sight in February, for the oasis which is the Buenos Aires Pub Quiz returns to La Cigale on Monday the eleventh.
